I have spent many lovely weekends at the lodge. The hospitality is always of the highest quality, and the beach is always clean, white and uncluttered. Of course I cannot go without mentioning the delicious food! The butter fish remains my favourite dish, the cheesecake my favourite dessert. A definite must try if you find yourself in Malawi.

Delicious food, great view. I spent a weekend here and got a beachfront room. I enjoyed having the famous Mcheni (butterfish) as the sun was setting. Such a wonderful experience. It was January (rainy season) and it rained for a few hours on Saturday morning but Nkhotakota has good weather and it was sunny by 10am. I took a walk on the beach and it's clean with a natural feel.
My room was clean with clean sheets and towels .
I'm a foodie and loved the food. I'm planning to go in October with a group of friends.
After spending 2 weeks of intense work in a remote school in the central region of Malawi finding the pottery lodge was a godsend. We arrived mid afternoon and after a short discussion with the reception staff we were shown to our rooms. The rooms all had the same stunning view out across the lake and were clean with fresh towels on the beds and flowers in the bathroom. The little kitchen was clean and there were stocks of tea and coffee ready to use along with the fridge which had been turned on and was cold. Brand new AC unit fitted also. The food was fantastic, although the menu was a bit limited, with fresh fish from the lake being the pick of the bunch, or maybe the T-bone....all served by enthusiastic staff. With music laid on both nights and a well stocked fridge our trip was complete.
